What is freedom?

Freedom is being able to do whatever you want, without gaining any undesirable effects.

Freedom is a simple paradox, something impossible that we constantly seek. Is freedom that is constrained still freedom, or is it imprisonment?

If we live within a world with a free-market, although we could buy and sell whatever we want, those who make, who work for others have no freedom, they are forced to work tirelessly or face death, they are slaves of the rich, as what we would become. Whereas in a communist society, there is forced equality, you do not have the opportunity to rise above others or fall below others, you are stuck inside of a equilibrium. With laws, we can punish those who do wrong, but with laws comes the opportunity for injustice, without justice, there is no injustice. In a world without laws, we do not have the freedom of luxury, to relax inside of laws, as life would be a constant battle to survive, as it is now in lawless countries.

We are irrational creatures, seeking for something which does not and cannot exist. Freedom is overrated, peace, is not. A utopian society would not have laws, as wherever there are laws, there are those who break the laws, whether their actions are just or unjust. A utopian society, is one where life is not a constant battle and where people accept equality from existence. Existence is harsh and brutal, it is fierce and merciless, that doesn't mean society must be the same. Society should be people who work for each other, who work for the needs of others, to preserve peace and life. Although to gain this there must be conflict due to the dialectical nature of society, yet absolute existence is a metaphysical plane which doesn't change, its brutality, its nihilism never ceases to exist, yet we fight for freedom, something which is used as an excuse for murder, for power, for wealth. People do not realize their dependency on society, yet they abuse this and do not try to destroy social hierarchy, they let it pass and claim that they are not in the wrong because they aren't doing anything, yet sometimes doing nothing is in itself abandoning others. We should work for a set of shared values, abandon selfish needs and work to preserve peace and society. Peace cannot be achieved through peaceful methods, for the wealthy, those who have been indoctrinated with a desire for power abuse this and disallow peace, constantly seeking power over others. Through the destruction of power, of wealth, of class, comes a society with peace, a utopian society with equal opportunity for all, you may call this unfair, but I say that this is the true essence of freedom.
Hopefully less of a hash than my previous piece.

I will share a design with you and discussion will lead to questioning freedom and basic axioms. I will send it as a note, rather than a comment.

I agree with most of your thoughts. Maybe I will share my ideas on "utopian society" as you called. I strongly agree with "flaws of perception" of people on freedom. In the same aspect, I wrote some on relations among conscience(axioms), perception and "observations/experiences" on my journals, but I did not put all the details. If you would like, it will be pleasure to discuss on them.

The pleasure would be mine, I am always keen to have discussions on many topics, this definitely being one of them. So what would you like to discuss?

IIRC, if you had mentioned abandoning the ego in order to achieve (greater) prosperity. A utopia would never ever work with how most humans behave today. We would need tabula rasa on a grand scale; but that theory also holds that nurture is more important than nature.

I propose that nature causes/influences nurture.

Nuture was made to help protect people from nature. Just like how civilization was created to preserve life, however, living within a civilization causes a great lack of freedom and unhappiness, in the sense that civilization causes the creation of the super-ego, which stops the ego from over indulging, which in itself is unhappiness. You must also understand that my philosophy is constantly changing, the more I read, think, learn, etc. I hope my philosophy reflects life itself in that it changes, undergoes metamorphosis, learns, adapts, yet still holds the same values at its core, it may change protocol slightly depending on the individual situation, yet the core facts and concepts lie at the heart of all changes as well as the overall philosophy itself. Just like how in life we can have moments where we suddenly realize something that shall cahnge us forever, the same can happen with philosophy, I try to remain open minded to suggestion, yet remain radical in my beliefs so I help spread the wide spread advancement of knowledge, yet doesn't remain like religion, the exact thing which we wish to destroy, the idea of limiting knowledge and gaining control over peoples minds.

The constant evolution of erm - yourself will be quite interesting to log. I making you sound like an experiment now. But it would be interesting to compare your philosophy today, to the one in 5/10/20 years from now.

I am an experiment. Yes, I fear constant virtual repetition is not good however.

I do not know. Whilst I don't agree with documentation of one's mistakes. Perhaps a log is what we all need.

Wouldn't a log just clog up the art bit, unless you meant as in like on the diary part of here?

I agree freedom has negative extensions in reality but I'm not sure they are all pervasive for all people. This involves a lot of variable, such as humanity and social interaction so I'm not sure how to approach the issue.

I think that we could working with this interesting concept more by extending and refining the definition so that it is more real world specific and less dictionary accurate. This is not a criticism of you, but an observation that your text prompted.

Nice work! :meow:

How could I improve? Although I hope that most of my works are thought provoking, it makes one feel alive, to think.

Well our idea of freedom extends from the definition and if we discuss and change the definition, or concept, of freedom then maybe we can find solutions to some of these issues.

It is human nature to limit ourselves, if we were to use our true potential however, it could have catastrophic consequences.

This feels a bit redundant. You, suffer from what I call the Poe problem. You like to rehash the same themes. I do that too. It is well written and I like your ideas but you should try something new thematically. Your writing is reminiscent of American writers Lovecraft, Asimov, and Clarke.

How could I improve, what sort of themes? I like to try to cover things which seem significant to what I'm feeling at the time of writing. Like life, I hope my philosophy changes so that's why I go back, to try to refine ideas slightly, sometimes I think I leave them too raw and too abstract for what is good.

Well you just recycle the same ideas over And over again. I want to see something new, maybe you can try one of my themes. I was writing a story but know I am rethinking it because it is thematically the same as the rest of my work.
